sultry. was going to do an encaustic, but perhaps its way too hot for it...would be too sticky...hell, my brain's too sticky. Good day for beach if I hadn't been marathon driving every day now for a week.

Started second canvas in series. Took a ride down to Brunswick, stopped for a gesso run. Difficult to obtain any decent art supplies here in the Northwoods of Maine. Frustrating sometimes. Will be casting the hypertufa molds tomorrow; some of the moss paint is working, but not consistently enough. Hard to divide time between garden and studio...I confess the garden wins these days alot, but the season is so short up here one must be out in it as much as possible. It is where so much of the inspiration, the color, the texture comes from.

July 2,2010
About halfway through a new painting, large canvas done in acrylic and caran d ache. a take on a cell formation, part of a "flesh and bone " series. I am also experimenting with moss spores as a painting material. So far have a birch panel"painted", and in the growth process. This could be really awesome, could be a total waste of buttermilk. 2 a.m., can't sleep, and am hoping for the beach later today, though on a summer holiday weekend in Maine, it could be chaos. Warm, sandy chaos.
